T.I. Dynamic Facades helps maximise floor space at Quorum Business Park
T.I. Dynamic Facade’s single skin Terracotta Rainscreen with clinch carrier rail has been used at the new Quorum Business Park, Newcastle. Installed by façade specialist, Norking Aluminium, the complete system delivered a high quality exterior finish and kept the cladding zone depth to a minimum, ensuring that internal floor space in the Q8 commercial building was maximised.
The clinch rail, which is an advanced vertical carrier system, was chosen for its minimal construction height and efficient installation procedure. A closed design, the joint and bearing profile are supplied pre-connected, requiring only minimal on-site assembly.
Involved with the project from specification, T.I. Dynamic Facades recommended the single skin and clinch system to meet the specified aesthetic and performance requirements, following this through with on-site technical support during installation.
Shaun Whiting, sales director, Norking, explains: “The single skin Terracotta Rainscreen was on-site to meet our deadlines and was extremely easy to work with. This was backed up by technical support from T.I. Dynamic Facades, who assigned a dedicated project manager to the job, giving us immediate access to expert advice.”
Brick red tiles with a typical panel size of 500mm x 250mm were used to finish the exterior envelope of the Q8 building. These interfaced with curtain walling and composite cladding panels, spanning a total area of 900m2.
The single skin Terracotta Rainscreen is the only system to have BBA approval for the complete range of tile sizes, supplemented by CWCT (Centre for Window and Cladding Technology) elemental certification. It is proven to require little or no maintenance and overall performance has been tested up to a height of 100 metres.
An intelligently engineered manufacturing process gives the tiles increased resistance to freeze/thaw than silicon sprayed alternatives, as well as higher quality and greater consistency in terms of colour and surface finish.
One of the most lightweight systems of its kind, single skin Terracotta Rainscreen weighs an average of 10kg less per square metre than traditional offerings. This makes it a practical and cost effective choice for any type of development.
William Harwood, director, T.I. Dynamic Facades, concludes: “Single Skin Terracotta Rainscreen has proven its credentials on-site, making rainscreen cladding more affordable and easier to install than ever before. By underpinning this with free support and advice from our technical design team, we can ensure a smooth path to project completion.”
